Ansvar launches benefits programme to support charities beyond insurance

Ansvar has expanded its offer to the charity sector with the launch of a new benefits programme to reduce costs and strengthen operational capacity.

The insurer, part of the Benefact Group, said the programme reflects a broader shift in how it supports voluntary organisations, moving beyond insurance to practical, day-to-day assistance.

Broader support for the sector

Ansvar has long positioned itself as a specialist provider to charities, faith groups and non-profits. It channels profits to good causes through its parent group and runs a funding model that supports three charities over a three-year cycle, giving recipients longer-term financial stability.

More recently, the organisation has invested in infrastructure for the sector. Its Brighton-based Community Hub, opened in 2024, provides free workspace and hybrid learning events. Nearly 50 charities have used the space to date.

Sarah Cox, Ansvar’s managing director, said: “We might be a commercial organisation, but we are owned by a charitable trust. When you’re working hard every day and know your success directly benefits charitable causes, it’s incredibly empowering. And we’re always looking for more ways to support the sector.”

Focus on practical help

The new programme, Ansvar Advantages, targets staff and volunteers within insured organisations. It offers discounted access to services that charities often struggle to afford, including training, financial advice and digital tools.

David Eccles, head of distribution at Ansvar, said: “Ansvar Advantages reflects our commitment to supporting charities in practical ways. It helps them save money, build capability and focus on delivering positive impact.”

The initial group of partners includes:

  • EdenTree: reduced investment fees and a lower entry point for charities managing reserves
  • Flick Learning: discounted compliance training, including safeguarding and data protection
  • Pravi: a platform for donor engagement and social media management
  • EFAS: financial advisory services at reduced rates
  • Spill: workplace mental health support for staff and volunteers

Ansvar said partners were selected based on their understanding of the charity sector, rather than offering generic commercial discounts.

The insurer plans to expand the scheme, with additional partners expected to join over time. The longer-term aim is to create a network of services that supports both financial resilience and organisational effectiveness.
